2.0 Environment Management Plan The aim of an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) is to protect the environment and comply with environment legislation. EMP is also developed to ensure that all required measures are identified and are implemented before and during the construction phase. The contractors responsibility is to protect the environment from its activities and requires the same commitment from the suppliers for the development and implementation of the EMP. To prepare a site specific Environmental Management Plan, the following should be address: †¢ Identify environmental issues before and during the construction phase. †¢ Issues that can cause harm to the surrounding environment †¢ How to manage the problems encountered and to minimize damage to the environment from its activities... Each construction site is unique and will vary depending on the type and scale of the project. The environmental issues which need to be considered will vary from site to site. 3.0 Planning Planning and listing the environmental issues related to your site activities and identify the effect on the surrounding environment. The contractors have to be aware of the sensitive natural characteristics of the construction site that can possibly affect the activities on site.
